Metal Roof Tax Credit Approved for 2017 Tax Season!

Have you wondered if you are eligible for a metal roof tax credit? If you are waiting until the last minute to file your taxes, you might just be in luck! The energy efficiency tax credit has just been approved for tax year 2017. This program includes up to $500 credit for qualified energy efficiency improvements, which may include metal roofs with appropriate pigmented coatings. For more information, please see the ENERGY STAR® program page here: https://www.energystar.gov/about/federal_tax_credits

Metal Roof Tax Credit Info Packet

For your convenience, we have also assembled an information packet. This packet contains excerpts from the ENERGY STAR® website (with links for more information), manufacturer certification letters, as well as the IRS Form 5695. The manufacturer certification statement should be retained for your documentation, but you do not have to submit it with your form.

A few important notes:

This metal roof tax credit only applies to painted roofs. Unpainted/mill finish metal roofs still provide good solar reflectivity values, unfortunately, however, the ENERGY STAR® program only assesses painted roof panels.

This credit is for 10% of the cost of the energy efficiency upgrade, but not to exceed a credit of $500. The credit does NOT include installation.
